2026 ULI Carolinas | Panel Session

This session provides a solutions‑driven look at how communities can expand housing through three key areas of innovation: evolving financing tools, modernized construction methods, and next‑generation public–private partnerships. Panelists will share lessons learned and practical models from recent projects that demonstrate how collaborative approaches—across public agencies, private developers, and mission‑driven partners—can accelerate delivery, reduce barriers, and strengthen long‑term housing affordability, resilience, and community outcomes.

We will highlight national examples including Picket Fence, the Housing Innovation Challenge, the Innovation Neighborhood at Babcock Ranch, and emerging city‑level strategies from across the U.S. Together, these efforts show how innovative capital structures, breakthrough construction techniques, and new partnership models can unlock infill potential, deliver attainable homes at scale, and set the stage for more inclusive and future‑ready communities.
