Alliance Insights PULSE: Aging Out

NAHB’s analysis of the Census Bureau’s 2015 American Community Survey sheds a light on our industry’s labor shortage, namely the what and where of an aging workforce.

Why It Matters: Construction managers, electricians and carpenters – especially in the Midwest and East – are currently older than the U.S. median, and other trades aren’t far behind; those aging out of the field not only leave a void of workers, but missed mentoring opportunities, underscoring the need to recruit younger workers.
