The housing industry is often compared to the car industry — and for good reason!
The sharing economy, and the new financial models that come along with it, have turned the way that we look at products and services on its head. Take cars for example. We can not only buy or lease one, but also rent a car on the go, pick one out from a vending machine, have one delivered directly to our home, rent our own car out, schedule a ride with Joe Average, or even rent to earn by becoming a driver ourselves. A car can now be a product, a service, a shared expense, an income source, or any combination of the above. By taking a cue from the car and rideshare industries, food delivery, entertainment streaming, and other resources that have emerged for today's consumers, we can extend the home delivery relationship beyond an individual transaction. Home as a Service strategies create ongoing touchpoints, revenue opportunities, new value for consumers and providers alike, and expanded potential to create customers for life. In housing, there are both immediate and long-term benefits in taking a Home as a Service focus and thinking of housing as an experience rather than simply a product. We’ll showcase how homebuilders and master planned community developers can:- Extend their renter/buyer relationships beyond an individual transaction, create ongoing touch points and unlock new revenue opportunities
- Deliver value through homegrown service offerings and win-win partnerships with 3rd party tech and service providers
- Reduce risk + warranty issues
- Increase customer satisfaction + generate positive word of mouth
- Create customers for life
