Join us in Washington, D.C. (on the Maryland side) November 15th and 16th, as we connect with smart companies and gather real-world perspectives of innovation in the field.  We'll kick things off with a happy hour co-hosted by Professional Builder from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday, November 15 at the All Set Restaurant & Bar in Silver Spring, Maryland. Chat with other Road Trip attendees and leaders from the D.C. market over cocktails and appetizers. Wednesday morning, we'll head off to Upper Marlboro to visit with Home Innovation Research Labs, a full-service research, testing, and consulting firm focused on improving the quality, durability, affordability, and environmental performance of single- and multifamily homes and homebuilding products. Michael Luzier, HIRL's president and CEO, will share their approach to innovation and give us a tour of the facility — highlighting some of their latest research projects. Next, we'll be joined by a panel of policy and industry experts, led by our friends at HillStaffer, to discuss implications and opportunities associated with Biden's housing supply announcement, Build Back Better, the Inflation Reduction Act, and the mid-term elections. We'll explore:

• Legislative issues that are likely to impact housing
• Opportunities for innovation at the home + community development levels
• How the Housing Innovation Alliance can use its voice to represent the production homebuilding landscape on the hill + advocate for real change that benefits the industry + homeowners

Finally, we'll wrap up the day with a visit to University of Maryland's School of Engineering, home to the Bing Research Group and lab, who are focused on developing new materials and physical solutions for today's problems. We'll hear about new product and material solutions in development that were incubated at the university. One example being Inventwood, a startup that is transforming the properties of ordinary wood to deliver construction materials that are stronger than steel or as transparent as glass. Transportation will be provided, and we'll wrap things up around 4 pm.
