GET TO KNOW WOODSIDE HOMES.
Shuttle service will be provided Thursday afternoon and evening for all attendees courtesy of EEBA and the Alliance. We'll leave the Hilton Salt Lake City Center at 1:30 pm and begin tours around 2 o'clock.
First, we'll visit Woodside Home's Sky Ranch community in West Jordan and get an inside look at:
- Woodside's Zero Energy Ready Journey. Woodside will discuss the catalyst behind their drive to build every home to the DOE Zero Energy Ready Home (ZERH) standard and what experiences they are having as they navigate their entire company toward this goal.
- Woodside's Healthy Homes Initiative. As a society, we now spend more time indoors than ever before. Learn how Woodside is working to provide a healthier living experience for homeowners to improve quality of life on a day-to-day basis.
- The Utah Division's Path to ZERH. Moving from code minimum building standards to compliance with DOE's ZERH standard doesn't happen overnight. Woodside will share what went right and what obstacles had to be overcome for the Utah division to build a model home that received the 2023 Housing Innovation Award.
ROAD TRIP HAPPY HOUR | DOWNTOWN SALT LAKE CITY
After you've had a chance to tour some of Woodside's homes, hear from their management team, and get a feel for the community, we'll get back on the shuttle and head downtown. Our next stop is the company's Inspiration Gallery. There we'll get a closer look at their design and finishes and network with Road Trip attendees over beer, wine, and heavy appetizers.
Shuttle service concludes for the evening at this location. It's a 6-minute ride or 25-minute walk back to the Hilton, EEBA's official conference hotel.
DAY 2: DAYTIME TOURS + NETWORKING LUNCH
We're just as excited about the Friday program! We've been working with Ivory Innovations and the University of Utah to select our final tours. Two are confirmed and one is in process. Read below for more details and check back soon for the full Friday agenda including timing + the order of our visits.
Shuttle service + a boxed lunch will be provided. We'll wrap up the tours by 2 pm and head straight to the airport for a final drop-off. Need a ride? We've got you covered.
GET TO KNOW IVORY HOMES.
Learn where Ivory Homes and Ivory Innovation intersect. We'll visit the builder's corporate office or their Holbrook Farms project, depending on where it is in the development cycle. There, we'll dig into innovation in 3 key areas.
- Overcoming Barriers to Innovation. They'll discuss some of the problems they're facing now and how those hurdles keep innovation from fully penetrating the market.
- Driving Change at the State Level. Learn how Ivory and others are helping drive changes to code throughout Utah, including their efforts to help develop a statewide modular code.
- Achieving Attainability + Affordability. Ivory will discuss a new design approach that's helping them bring density back to townhomes. They'll also talk about their approach to Holbrook Farms, a community that will deliver 1500 units over the next 2-3 years at 60-80% AMI.
SEE BAMCORE'S CARBON-NEGATIVE FRAMING IN ACTION.
BamCore is working with a local builder to demonstrate their zero carbon footprint structural framing system in the Salt Lake area. Learn more about their patent-pending Load Optimized Biogenic Industrialized Construction (LOBIC) technology that delivers a high-performance, eco-friendly shell - both stronger and faster.
EXPLORE DAYBREAK COMMUNITIES.
Join us as we tour Daybreak in South Jordan, a network of six unique villages and a model for walkable, sustainable suburbs of the future. Here they are allowed to build housing at any density the market can support. The folks at Larry H. Miller Real Estate will share their broader approach to sustainability and livability.
- Daybreak's Environmental History. Learn how the developers worked with the EPA and the Utah Department of Quality to rehabilitate a former mining district -- developing and implementing site-specific clean-up standards that would allow for unrestricted residential development.
- Daybreak's Water Conservation Story. Larry H. Miller will share Daybreak's multi-tiered strategy to water conservation, retention, and re-use. Learn how they've made their program even more robust over the last few years -- saving an estimated 42 million gallons in 2022 alone!
- How a New Downtown Creates a New Frontier in Water Conservation. Larry H. Miller is exploring other innovative ideas to reduce and reuse water. They'll discuss what changes will need to happen on the legislative front to make further advancements possible.
Remember, space is limited.
We'll have one shuttle for tours - two tops. That's just 50-80 seats. Be one of the first to register to guarantee your spot. After 55 seats are gone, we'll create a waiting list for bus #2.
Alliance Members and Partners receive a discounted rate, and those who aren't part of our network yet can either attend as a non-member or select Join + Go. Manufacturer participation is limited to EEBA board members and Alliance partners. Contact Dennis@housinginnovation.org to qualify for the Road Trip as an event sponsor or new partner.
